Fortunately for Einstein, his generation did not have internet and social media or smartphones to pass their time. So a lot of distractions or problems that we face today didn't even exist then.
•As a result he had very limited things to distract him from his subject of interest about which he had just too much time to think about.
•Einstein didn't just sit all day at one place to study. Rather, he traveled places,played violin,relaxed and slept a lot. In fact, most of his ground-breaking ideas came when he was doing something else.

•One of the most powerful and popular ability that Einstein had was the concept of Thought Experiments, where he did anything and everything he was confused about by visualizing real time situations. The Special Theory of Relativity is said to have been a resultant of hundreds of such experiments.
So, it is quite evident how Einstein studied. And if you want to do something like that, then forget about physics and maths, you first of all need to have that passion and interest for study. And the rest follows like liquid mercury on a..on a .. sloping... thing.
